Certain countries are more vulnerable to climate change than others. Those more vulnerable are people in lower-income areas because they have less access to resources when these events occur. There is now a new term for people fleeing because of changes in their climate; climate change refugees. These people have no choice but to flee their homes because the resources they need to survive were destroyed.
Who Is Affected?
Pacific Islanders
In recent years the levels of the Pacific Ocean have been rising due to higher temperatures and have caused several islands to shrink in size. Due to this, people who live on a Pacific island have limited resources, and many homes are destroyed. These people have no choice but to relocate and seek refuge elsewhere. The issue with this is many countries have no policies in place to help the people who seek asylum due to climate change. This affects the ability of those in need to receive help and has become a severe issue.
